An Irish Fairy Tale for the Whole Family

On Friday, June 19th at 7:00 PM, Delphi Academy of Florida presents the comedy “Blather, Blarney and Balderdash”, by Patrick Rainville Dorn, at the Francis Wilson Play House. Set in Ireland, the play follows the adventures of Fin, who must learn the essential art of storytelling in order to win the hand of fair Pegeen. With the help of three leprechauns—Blather, Blarney and Balderdash—Fin learns how to weave a good yarn as the characters take on a life of their own. The hilarious cast includes a chronic sneezer, a boatman who can’t leave his boat, and a fiddle-playing cricket. And of course, there will be plenty of Irish music and dancing.
The Delphi drama department will be calling upon professionals to help students develop acting and dancing skills. Cathy Vangieri, a local drama coach, and Megan Brazil, a professional dancer and choreographer from New York, will be directly involved in the play’s creation.
Elaine Oller, Delphi’s drama teacher, is enthused about this year’s play. “I’m especially excited about the Francis Wilson Play House,” she exclaims. “It’s a cozy, unique setting and really perfect for us. I’m also delighted with the music—it’s going to be very lively and fun.” She thinks this will be one of Delphi’s best performances.
The Francis Wilson Play House is located at 302 Seminole Street in Clearwater. It is on the bay front, one block west of Fort Harrison Avenue. Tickets go on sale June 1st. Adults $15; Children and Senior Citizens $10. Order a package of three or more tickets and get them for $10 each. To order tickets, call Delphi at (727) 447-6385. Advance ticket sales recommended. Tickets will be sold at the door. No assigned seating. For special needs seating, please notify the school for special arrangements.

Established in 1983 and currently celebrating our twenty-fifth anniversary Delphi Academy™ of Florida is one of many schools within the nationally renowned network of Delphi schools known for their innovative approach to learning. With annual standardized testing scores of two to three grade levels above the national average, and graduates going on to the finest high schools in Tampa Bay and beyond, Delphi Academy prides itself on what has been called a breakthrough approach to preparing students for life.

How students are taught is what makes the Delphi Academy of Florida truly unique. Classrooms are not lecture halls. They are a whir of non-stop activity, in which each student is busily working, intent on study. With the aid of checksheets, the step-by-step study guide designed for each subject taught, teachers are free to circulate within the class.

Delphi Academy takes a different approach to learning with the know how of the Study Technology (Study Tech), an educational philosophy and a practical approach to teaching and learning based on research and developments by American writer and educator L. Ron Hubbard.

Delphi Academy of Florida’s Mission and Philosophy:

Give young people a rich academic background, a strong sense of ethics and a broad range of abilities to successfully launch them into a higher education, a career and life itself.

More broadly, help build a better world through effective education.

Our philosophy of education is simple. Students should master their basic tools very well -- then learn to really use what they learn. Our teaching and study methods emphasize practical application -- because only in meaningful use can one work out the proper value of the many pieces of knowledge encountered in an education. This approach keeps our students continually evaluating new information in relation to the real world. Their educations become something they build and own, not something piled onto them. In the end, we want to see our students maintain their individuality, while being self-motivated, confident, active and purposeful individuals who are capable of pursuing and reaching their chosen goals.

Beth Voss, the Director of Admissions and 17 year veteran employee of Delphi Academy of Florida is presently overseeing the admissions, new enrollment and public relations of the school. For more information about the school, please contact Ms. Voss.
